ISTSS Seeks Applicants for Trauma Foundation Trustees

Applications are available for trustee positions with the new Trauma Foundation. The deadline for applying is July 1, 2001.

The Trauma Foundation is an independent, nonprofit foundation established by ISTSS in 2000. The aim of the Trauma Foundation is to raise and distribute funds to underwrite research and fund educational programs, scholarships and other programs that further the understanding, prevention and treatment of traumatic stress worldwide.

Trustees will work to actively advance the foundation's operation. Responsibilities include fundraising, providing professional expertise, supporting outreach activities, representing the foundation, recruiting volunteers, and participating in meetings and functions.

There will be nine Trauma Foundation trustees. ISTSS will be represented by no fewer than four trustees: three members and the executive director. Trustees may come from anywhere in the world, although most of the fundraising and activities will take place from within the United States. Trustees serve a five-year term without compensation.

ISTSS Foundation Development Task Force representative Rachel Yehuda and ISTSS President Bonnie Green encourage ISTSS members to self-nominate and to nominate candidates from the trauma field, advocacy groups, industry and others who have an interest in advancing the foundation's mission.

Applications for the founding trustees will be reviewed by the ISTSS Nominating Committee and approved by the ISTSS board of directors.
