Readership

Traumatic StressPoints is published quarterly (February, May, July and October) by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and mailed to the Society’s members. Members include psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, social workers and others who work in the treatment and study of traumatic stress-related disorders.

Article Submissions

Traumatic StressPoints accepts articles (500-800 words) on topics related to the study and treatment of traumatic stress-related disorders. Topic areas include innovative programs and treatment approaches, assessment/diagnosis, theory on the biological and/or psychological bases of PTSD, policy and legal issues and other relevant subjects. Articles may deal specifically with particular types of traumatic experiences, including violence, sexual abuse, rape, incest, war, torture and imprisonment, refugees, disasters, emergency service workers, death and bereavement issues and others.

Traumatic StressPoints provides a vehicle for the rapid dissemination of news, as well as recent advances, issues, controversies, concerns, or innovations in research or applied contexts. Articles should be written in a style accessible to a multidisciplinary audience. Considering limited space, terse shorter articles will be given priority over longer articles.

ISTSS Updates: Short news items and announcements from affiliates, board members, committees, task forces and special interest groups are featured in a newsletter section called Communications Corner. Chairs are encouraged to submit information at each quarterly deadline, keeping announcements around 150 words.

For deadline information contact Matthew Lesh at ISTSS headquarters (mlesh@istss.org; phone 847/480-9028; or fax 847/480-9283). To submit articles, follow one of two processes: 1) Attach a Word document to an e-mail and send to mlesh@istss.org or 2) Send a disk with the article on it, created in Word, along with a hard copy, to Matthew Lesh, Managing Editor, Traumatic StressPoints, 111 Deer Lake Road, Suite 100, Deerfield, IL 60015.

For more information about the suitability of an article for publication, contact the editor of Traumatic StressPoints, Ed Varra, PhD, at emvarra@gmail.com.
