ISTSS Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for the Underserved: Policy, Advocacy, Research and Clinical (PARC)

ISTSS has developed the Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for the Underserved: Policy, Advocacy, Research and Clinical (PARC). This is a new award intended to recognize and promote excellence in trauma work being undertaken with underserved populations. Underserved populations will differ across the world but the focus is on populations facing systemic barriers to equity, inclusion, and social justice based on identities, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, nationality, and political beliefs and other ideologies. 

This award is open to ISTSS members who are engaged in trauma work with underserved populations.

 Eligibility

This award is open to ISTSS members who are engaged in trauma work with underserved populations.

  • Priority will be given to individuals who (1) have demonstrated a sustained commitment to trauma work with underserved populations,

  • Self-identify as belonging to an underserved population themselves,

  • Have demonstrated commitment to trauma-related diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice, and

  • Have demonstrated a sustained commitment to ISTSS via membership or service activities.

To apply, please submit the following:

  • ISTSS Award Nomination Form

  • A short statement (not more than one page in length) explaining how your work demonstrates excellence and impact in research, clinical, policy or advocacy for underserved populations. This statement could include information regarding your self-identity as a member of an underserved group (if appropriate).

  • A CV (maximum two pages in length), including details of ISTSS membership/ service activities

For each of the ISTSS awards, the recipient will receive: 

  • A plaque presented at the annual meeting,

  • Complimentary annual meeting registration

  • One complimentary night of lodging

  • Announcement in StressPoints

    The deadline to submit nominations is 11:59 pm U.S. Eastern Time on June 30, 2022. The Society will recognize award winners at the ISTSS 38th Annual Meeting, November 9–12, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia
