Global Travel Award

ISTSS Global Travel Award really helped me to attend the 41st Annual Meeting. Such a trip from Eastern Europe is still a challenge! There are no straight flights from Ukraine, so travel from Kyiv starts by train – 15 hours to Poland, and then another 15 hours we take a plane. In the time of war, the trip is not only financially but also physically challenging.

Nevertheless all efforts made to attend the meeting were worth it. Thanks to the approval by the ISTSS board, I managed to arrange participation of the panel discussion of a Ukrainian veteran (one of the speakers).

ISTSS Annual Meeting was a place for scientists from around the world. The most memorable part was the award ceremony, as it was like the Oscars award ceremony but in the field of trauma therapy. So the award can truly be called a tool for honoring the contribution of psychotherapists from around the world to the recovery of people suffering from wars and trauma. And I think that this award is even more valuable than the Oscars because these awards granted to outstanding scientists mean people's lives saved.

2025 Global Travel Awardee

2025 Nominations closed on March 17, 2025.

Each year, some traumatic stress professionals engaged in important and cutting edge-research and clinical work in underserved regions of the world are unable to attend the ISTSS Annual Meeting due to financial limitations. A limited number of Global Travel Awards are available from ISTSS each year to support Annual Meeting attendees coming from underserved regions of the world (e.g., lower- and middle-income countries; underresourced communities in higher income countries) and experiencing financial hardship with fees or travel costs. The travel awards are supported by voluntary contributions from ISTSS members and vary each year in terms of availability.
