Allwood Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for the Underserved

(Formerly, the Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for Underserved)

Policy, Advocacy, Research and Clinical (PARC) Award

It truly means a lot to see international organizations acknowledging the work I’ve done. This recognition has been deeply motivating and inspires me to continue advancing both in practice and research. I also gained valuable new networks, and my colleagues as well as the university authorities are very proud not only of me but also of our institution as a whole.

Prof. Eugene Rutembesa

2025 Allwood Awardee

We are deeply honored to announce the establishment of the Allwood Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for the Underserved, formerly known as the Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for the Underserved: Policy, Advocacy, Research and Clinical (PARC). The Allwood Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for the Underserved recognizes and promotes excellence in trauma work being undertaken with underserved populations. Underserved populations differ across the world, but this award focuses on populations facing systemic barriers to equity, inclusion, and social justice based on identities, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, nationality, political beliefs, and other ideologies. This prestigious award is named in memory of Dr. Maureen Allwood, whose impact in advancing research and clinical practice continues to inspire and influence the ISTSS community and the field of trauma studies globally.
