Community Support & Standards
The Code of Conduct outlines ISTSS’s expectations for attendees and presenters at all ISTSS events. This guidance is central to ensuring ISTSS events are a safe, open, and inclusive space, which is mindful of the diverse range of experiences of participants. As a professional organisation, we also recognise the vital importance of being able to critique and debate, but highlight the importance of doing this in a manner that is open and respectful. This document also complements our Anti-Harassment Policy and our Best Practice Parameters.
ISTSS Ombuds
The ISTSS Ombuds serves as an independent, impartial, and confidential resource to assist ISTSS members (including Special Interest Group (SIG) members), volunteers, Executive Office staff, and other non-member participants in ISTSS meetings or activities (collectively, “stakeholders”) in addressing concerns and resolving conflicts with respect to matters involving the organization. The role is designed to promote fair processes, support organizational integrity, and foster a culture of respect, accountability, and inclusivity.
The Ombuds function reflects ISTSS's commitment to a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment. It upholds principles of equity, trauma-informed practice, and professional integrity, supporting all stakeholders in being heard and treated fairly. While the Ombuds may provide support in navigating challenging situations, they do not provide clinical, mental health, or emergency crisis response services.
