The Eighth European Conference on Traumatic Stress (ECOTS) will be held May 22–25, 2003, in Berlin. The conference is sponsored by the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, in cooperation with the Catholic University of Applied Sciences and the German-speaking Society for Psychotraumatology.

The wide-ranging scientific program offers attendees the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of new developments and advances in the fields of extreme stress and psychotraumatology. The program addresses science and practice across multiple disciplines, attracting the interest of scientists, clinicians, agency and service personnel, and policy makers. Main themes of the program include biological processes in PTSD, treatment and service delivery; emphasis also is placed on civil and international conflict, mass trauma and refugee issues.
